NEW Narrow Invisible Speaker from Amina
Narrow form factor invisible speaker accommodates small inter joist widths.

Amina AIW3X-S200 SLIM Invisible SpeakerJanuary 12, 2011 - Amina Technologies Ltd is happy to introduce a new member to the AIW series speakers. The new AIW3X/S200 is a special, narrow 8” x 16” footprint version of the popular single channel 40W, AIW3X invisible loudspeaker, specifically designed to be used where space is limited. Its 8” or 200mm width allows it to be used in many tricky installations where inconsistent and narrow joist spacing is common. This includes period properties, historic buildings and listed structures. Most importantly though, it allows the use of AIW product in new homes and commercial buildings constructed using light weight engineered timber I-beams, which tend to be placed only 12” or 300mm apart, and cannot be notched into for structural reasons. Like all other AIW product the AIW3X/S200 can also be used behind wooden panels, in furniture, behind acrylic, melamine and even Corian®.

The installation process is the same as the standard AIWX Series loudspeakers: the AIW3X/S200 mounts, post drywall boarding, to the plasterboard using the supplied mounting kit, or to a separate back box, which itself can be applied pre or post boarding.

Where required, a matching narrow version of its BackboxFS was designed as a companion to the AIW3X/S200 to help reduce the amount of sound traveling rearward from the speaker, significantly diminishing sound transfer to rooms above or behind the speaker location. The backbox is lined with Acoustiblok; a heavy rubber sound absorbing material.

All Amina AIWX series hidden loudspeakers and their corresponding back box solutions are designed for new build or retrofit application. Once skimmed over with a 1/16th or 1.5mm thick coat of finishing plaster, the AIW3X/S200 provides the same power handling (40W) and efficiency (85dB 1w/1m with 1.5mm plaster applied) as the AIW3X. Almost identical in frequency response to its larger brother, its narrow width does results in slightly less low frequency extension compared to the standard AIW3X.
